Youtube Gaming vs Twitch. 5 Things How Youtube Can Overwhelm Twitch
Youtube Gaming just arrived, but the question is can they beat the competitor who is running their service since 4 years?
In this post I will try to breakdown some of the key important things on how Youtube Gaming could just beat Twitch in streaming service.
1. HTML5
Since the first time Twitch has been starts, It's service using Adobe Flash. While Youtube Gaming runs HTML5 by default in supported browsers. HTML 5 allows viewer to dynamically alter video quality suit to the bandwith avalaible. And of course there are more advantage for people who demands high quality video, HTML 5 allows viewer to watch 4k resolution with 60 FPS. As well as being more efficient than Flash, HTML also provide a better experience in Smartphone which is obviously don't have Flash support.
On the other side as a streamer, Adobe Flash is program that sometimes can be frustrating. If you cant afford a good PC gaming there is a chance your streaming will stop at a time because it crashed on your PC.
A streamer from Techradar.com said
"Flash is a resource hog and Twitch reps have said they're working on moving to HTML5, but time will tell when it comes out,"
if Youtube Gaming can exploit HTML5 really well, this alone will make Twitch have to change their Flash into HTML5.
2. Revenues
Do you know how much a streamer could make in a month? There is a professional Dota 2 player saying that a streamer make more money than a Professsional gamer itself. This is maybe true or not but we know how much Pewdiepie earned a year and being said as the most successfull Youtuber ever.
8While Twitch streamer offer a paid channel subscription, It's actually a good idea but some streamer don't like how Twitch asking for split-share revenue 50%. Some streamer thinks that this is unfair and would be nice if it's 70-30
Do they still get revenues from ads? yes of course but almost 80% every viewer have their adblocker on.
Do Twitch deserves 50% split from channel subscription ? I don't think so. Twitch most likely still alive even if they change this into 20%.
Youtube best move would be to give more earning for the streamers so they know they deserves more. More income, more viewers.
Right now we didn't see how Youtube Gaming could benefits streamer more than Twitch but we know that so many youtubers could make a living from Youtube. so we will see.
